Dock 3, 4 and 5 were built on the Space City campus which is designed to be a hub for technology and knowledge-based industries.
Dock 3 and 4 provide office space whilst Dock 5 is for light industrial uses. The new offices will provide space for circa 50 businesses, with the light industrial units providing workspace across a terrace of nine buildings.
Space City’s latest additions are part of Leicester City Council’s successful securing of funding from the Government’s Levelling Up initiatives.
The design guidelines for the scheme as a whole also ensures a cohesive campus style park which has a sympathetic impact on the area whilst reflecting the high-tech nature of the surrounding buildings and occupiers.
Dock 3, 4 and 5 were designed and constructed within the pathway to net carbon zero, with no oil or gas on site plus 50 per cent of the offices’ roofing covered by solar panels to generate energy.
The buildings’ designs allow for the easy division of the internal areas to meet occupiers’ requirements with maximum flexibility.
The buildings have been constructed to a similar design although with distinctive characteristics to give this self-contained element of the park its own identity.
