A large two storey Grade II Listed stable block in Hallaton has been converted into an impressive four-bedroom dwelling for family living.
The original large red brick building, dating to 1842, was formerly used as stables and housing for the coaches owned by the residents of Hallaton Grange.
The building had many existing features that required only enhancement or repair. New additions, such as mezzanine floors, were thoughtfully introduced to maximise space without compromising on the building’s overall aesthetic
The design of the Coach House protects and enhances the character and appearance of Hallaton’s conservation area and respects the setting of the listed building.
The history of the building has been sensitively communicated in the conversion by retaining all the existing openings. The large windows and doors in The Coach House have been replaced with Crittall frames.
The height of the building has been retained in the large kitchen area to give a sense of space and light. Mezzanine floors have been introduced into either wing to create bedrooms, office and living space.
