Pick Everard is a leading multi-disciplinary property, construction, and infrastructure consultancy, with a 750-strong team supporting clients from its 14 offices throughout the country – including an office in Leicester. Being placed in the heart of the Midlands is also geographically advantageous, as our clients are spread across the country – so this central base is really important to us.
Our commitment to delivering high-quality built environment projects for a range of sectors is supported further by our appointments to some of the UK construction industry’s biggest frameworks. These appointments afford our public sector clients across the country to access our services through a fully compliant procurement process and showcases the excellent work being carried out by the teams.
As well as our focus on delivering excellent services on a national basis, the firm is committed to the delivery of projects that uplift the region’s offering, local economy and that deliver real social value for the community.
Following on from our previous delivery of designs for HMP Five Wells, this scheme for a new category C resettlement prison, HMP Fosse Way, represented the second of six new build improved estates, moving towards refinement of designs with delivery expedited through implementation of existing standardised baseline designs.
The design prioritises the well-being and rehabilitation of prisoners. Natural light, open spaces, and recreational areas promote mental health and constructive engagement. Educational and vocational training facilities within the complex aim to equip prisoners with skills for a better future, reflecting a progressive approach to correctional systems.
In total, eight houseblocks and seven ancillary buildings come together under a vision from the MoJ to transform prisoner rehabilitation in the UK. Prisoners have access to a central services hub, which includes a gym, library, educational classrooms, faith halls, as well as workshops and external horticultural areas, where Serco intend to work closely with local employers to deliver on-the-job training opportunities.
The transformation of St George Street project created a new, exciting and vibrant public realm in the Cultural Quarter of Leicester, with key connections to the Curve Theatre, Phoenix Art Centre, St George Conservation Area and links to the train station.
Our client, Leicester City Council, set out a design brief to re-imagine the street, in order to create a greener and more sustainable environment, with pedestrianised avenues, with rows of tree planting. Raingardens provide swathes of colour to the newly established promenade whilst forming part of the sustainable urban drainage system implemented.
Since the pandemic the area has had a significant reduction in footfall as many businesses in the area began to change their working arrangement. A creative approach was required to turn this street into a more attractive and greener environment that will promote healthy living and encourage people to come to the area and use more sustainable methods of transport such as walking and cycling.
This project won the 2023 ProCon Leicestershire Award for Infrastructure Project of the Year.
A new Endoscopy decontamination Unit at the Glenfield Hospital site to for the University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust includes a 993 square metre central processing area plus staff welfare accommodation, trolley washrooms, storage rooms, chemical stores, offices and showers.
Pick Everard completed structural and civil design services from RIBA Stage 2 up to completion. The site was heavily constrained by services on one side and existing buildings on the other, so careful consideration was required when considering where to place the building. Through continued collaboration with the contractor and wider stakeholders the team enabled open discussions on site logistics.
The updated centre has upgraded the handling of endoscopes, enhancing both the cleaning capability and the robustness of the service. Staffed by a 50-person team, this facility has the capacity to process as many as 50,000 endoscopes annually.
This project won the 2023 ProCon Leicestershire Award for Medium Non-Residential Scheme of the Year.
Our Interior Design team has completed the first phase of the refurbishment of Halford House. The fit out delivered contemporary office accommodation and incorporated a range of collaborative working areas.
This process started with consulting with a focus group through a series of engagement meetings and workshops that examined our firm’s culture, space and processes in great detail. This helped form a bespoke workplace strategy that fed into the creation of the design brief – which was ultimately to create an interior that reflects how we work, our brand and our future vision, as well as being a welcoming environment for staff and guests alike.

Our multi-disciplinary consultancy teams deliver outstanding places and spaces that create lasting value for clients and communities for generations to come.
