ProCon Awards - Rural luxury homes up for best building award

Published 24th September 2024 by ProCon Leicestershire

Three sets of luxury countryside homes are the finalists in the Medium Residential Scheme of the Year in the 2024 ProCon Leicestershire property and construction awards.

Two developments in Rutland and one in Leicestershire are in the running in this category, which is sponsored by Lovell Partnerships and is one of six in this year’s 21st ProCon Leicestershire Awards.

The Medium Residential Scheme of the Year finalists are:

Chater Valley View, North Luffenham, submitted by Kaybee Developments
Chater Valley View is a development of three luxury homes on the edge of the Rutland village of North Luffenham.
Constructed with beautiful and local Lincolnshire limestone, each of the three new five bedroom homes are differentiated through design elements but are united in their use of the highest quality materials and craftsmanship.
Kaybee Developments envisaged the scheme as a sympathetic development of three impressive homes, each with their own individualities, that enhanced their setting.

The Elms, Newton Harcourt, submitted by MTE Leicester
The Elms is a development of four contemporary barn style homes with rural views in the Leicestershire village of Newton Harcourt.
The developer’s plans originally specified infill timber panels for a steel frame build. The timber sub-contractor suggested replacing the building’s steel frame with timber for a greener, more sustainable project.
The alternatively engineered solution used high performance, low carbon materials offering thermal efficiency and cost benefits and eliminated the need for much steel and concrete.

Woodwell and Meadow Barn, Market Overton, submitted by Distinctive Developments Group and DDGL Construction
Woodwell and Meadow Barn replaced a dilapidated modern steel barn with two traditional Rutland farmstead homes.
The L-shaped structures provide a courtyard feel and feature single and two-storey designs, ground-to-eaves glass openings and oak framing reminiscent of traditional threshing barns.
The project combines traditional farmstead aesthetics with modern elements such as oak-framed car barns. Local materials, including stone from a nearby quarry, and recycled materials from the original barn were used.

Beth Bundonis, regional managing director for the East Midlands at the award sponsor Lovell Partnerships, said: “We’re proud to sponsor the Small and Medium Residential categories at this year’s ProCon awards.
“Both categories showcase examples of important work taking place in the creation of quality, much-needed housing in the Leicestershire and Rutland area – a mission we share with our work to unlock homes across the wider East Midlands.”

The 2024 ProCon Awards are backed by two corporate sponsors: Salus and Unique Window Systems. The Leicester Mercury’s Business Live is the media partner.
The other five awards are:
• Rising Star of the Year, sponsored by Keepmoat Homes
• Small Residential Scheme of the Year, sponsored by Lovell Partnerships
• Large Residential Scheme of the Year, sponsored by MORRO Partnerships
• Small Non-residential Scheme of the Year
• Medium to Large Non-residential Scheme of the Year, sponsored by Procure Partnerships Framework and Compliance Chain

All the contenders will be in the spotlight at a Finalist Showcase at Hotel Voco (previously Hotel Brooklyn) in Leicester from 6pm on Wednesday October 2.

Finalists and winners will be celebrated at a ceremony on November 14 at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium. Details of the awards are at: procon-leicestershire.co.uk/procon-awards/2024
