MDA Consulting 2023 Spotlight

MDA Consulting is a privately-owned, multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy.

The business was formed in 1951 by Messrs Monk and Dunstone. They would find it hard to imagine all the changes that have taken place in the intervening 70+ years. The world is now a very different place – in 1951 the average house price in London was £1,994 and you could buy a pint of beer for a shilling!

Some of you may only think of MDA as a Leicester-based consultancy but we operate out of 8 offices in the UK and overseas. Our head office is in central London, with regional offices in Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Leicester and Manchester. Our Leicester office opened in 1971 and our newest office is Cardiff, which opened in 2018. We were also the first QS practice to purchase a mainframe computer and pioneered computer BQ production in 1962.

We employ 61 staff in the UK and provide a range of construction and development consultancy services, including Cost Consultancy, Project Management, Project Monitoring, Restructuring and Recovery, CDM Consultancy and Principal Designer to Clients in both the Public and Private Sectors.

We have worked on projects all over the world; from far afield schemes such as the Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi and the Qatar National Museum (both projects managed out of our Leicester Office) to notable UK projects like Wimbledon Centre Court retractable roof, Heathrow Terminal 1 and the burial of King Richard III.

MDA have at our core a culture of innovation, collaboration and, most importantly, an understanding of how to fulfil and exceed our Clients’ expectations. We work in a structured manner that ensures we deliver projects within a process, which brings order and mutual understanding, providing space for all of us to be more effective and to question where we can improve.

Our philosophy is for our teams to make distinctive, substantial, and lasting improvements to our Clients’ businesses and/or their built assets. We have achieved this by developing a vibrant company, which attracts and retains exceptional people.

We are proud of our track record of successful projects delivered over many years, in both the Public and Private sectors, delivering projects of a variety of sizes, complexities, values and locations within the commercial, education, health and welfare, hotels, heritage, industrial, residential, leisure/hospitality, PRS and PBSA sectors.

The vast majority of our work is derived through repeat business, where we have successfully delivered projects for our Clients – in some cases over very many years.
