EVENT - Biodiversity Net Gain Update and changes to the Nature Laws

Major new biodiversity regulations came into effect in January 2024. Planning permissions granted for new housing, commercial and infrastructure developments will be required by law to deliver at least 10% biodiversity net gain.

These regulations became enforceable in April 2024 for smaller developers, while major Infrastructure Projects are expected to comply by 2025.

The new regulations are challenging but, if planning starts early enough, they also present real opportunities to deliver better outcomes for nature, communities and building occupants. The outcome should be new habitats and green spaces. It’s something you now need to factor from the initial stages of project planning.

Our panel of speakers will provide updates and insights and talk through case studies to aid compliance now that this new legislation has been active for a year.

In addition to this the Planning and Infrastructure Bill 2025 (published 11 March 2025), contains one of the most significant changes to nature laws in England for decades. We will give an overview of this.
